Life Care Center of the South Shore helps cellulitis patient get home

Ronald Bryant came to Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate, Massachusetts, on Dec. 14, 2016, for rehabilitation for his cellulitis, a bacterial infection of the skin.

When he arrived, Bryant needed moderate assistance with several self-care tasks, including getting dressed, and minimal assistance with his daily grooming, bathing and transferring from the bed to a chair. He could walk only 20 feet with a quad cane.

Physical and occupational therapists worked with Bryant to restore his strength and independence, and less than two months later, he was walking up to 175 feet with the quad cane. He was also able to take care of himself again.

"I really enjoyed the physical therapists and nurses," Bryant said of his stay at Life Care Center of the South Shore. "The desserts were great!"

Bryant returned home on Jan. 25, 2017.
