Life Care Center of the South Shore helps woman recover from fall

Althea Fisk entered Life Care Center of the South Shore in Scituate, Massachusetts, on June 6, 2017, only able to walk 12 feet with the assistance of a walker.

A recent fall at home left Fisk with a compression fracture prohibiting her independent mobility. She was unable to easily dress herself as well as perform other basic living activities without assistance.

Physical and occupational therapists worked with her six days a week, focusing on helping her decrease pain and increase her ability to get around. Speech therapists worked with her five days a week and helped her relearn how to swallow safely.

"I liked just about everything and everyone there," said Fisk. "The nurses were all great and I really enjoyed the exercise program."

Fisk completed therapy on July 6, 2017, and returned home with the ability to successfully walk 250 feet with a rolling walker.

"If I had to go anywhere for therapy," said Fisk, "I'm glad it was Life Care of the South Shore."
