After falling and fracturing his femur, Felix Survilla needed rehabilitation before he was ready to return home.
Survilla came to Life Care Center of Plainwell, Michigan, on April 16, 2018, for physical and occupational therapies. When he arrived, he needed assistance for walking, bed mobility, dressing, bathing and transfers (such as from a bed to a chair).
Physical and occupational therapists worked with Survilla six days a week. Physical therapists walked him through exercises to strengthen his body. He used the NuStep seated exercise machine as well as traditional exercises and gait training on a two-wheel walker.
Occupational therapists did their part as well, helping Survilla master his self-care skills once again.
"They're as good as you will find," said Survilla. "The therapists Becky [Bair, physical therapist assistant], Kathy [Kood, physical therapist], and Eileen [Gallagher, occupational therapist,] are the best, the three gems! I have also really enjoyed the food."
On May 2, Survilla returned home independently.
