Rosetta Watts was very weak after having abdominal surgery for a small bowel obstruction.
When Watts arrived at Life Care Center of Florissant, Missouri, for rehabilitation on May 3, 2017, she needed assistance to walk, transfer, balance while standing and get dressed. She also needed supervision with her daily grooming.
Watts participated in physical and occupational therapy sessions five days a week. PT focused on building her strength and balance, and therapists used the Biodex Balance System™ SD and the outdoor therapy garden with a variety of walking surfaces to do so.
Occupational therapy also helped strengthen Watts by using the stationary bicycle. Therapists trained her in her activities of daily life, including using the kitchen and laundry area to prepare her for life at home.
"Life Care Center of Florissant has an excellent, well-balanced program with a hard-working, well-trained, dedicated therapy team," said Watts. "I came here with the attitude that I could do this to meet my goals. I'm leaving physically stronger, emotionally encouraged and confident that I can and will move forward to achieve my desired state of health."
On May 20, Watts returned home independent in her self-care skills and mobility with the help of a walker.
